It is a quiet start to the day across much of Britain and Ireland as high pressure to the east begins to exerts its influence on our weather. There are some fog patches around this morning, but these should clear quite quickly and then many places will enjoy a reasonably fine day.
It will stay dry all day for much of the country, but cloudier skies will bring the odd shower to parts of Scotland and Ireland, and then this afternoon an area of cloud coming up from the south will move into southern parts of England. This cloud will thicken enough to bring some mainly light rain into southern counties by this evening, with the cloud and patchy rain then moving northwards tonight to affect much of England, Wales and Ireland. It will also turn rather misty as well, but at least the cloud will keep it on the mild side. Meanwhile, Scotland will see the clearest of the skies overnight, but even here it will tend to cloud up by morning.
Friday will start off on a generally cloudy note with limited brighter spells to be found. There will still be some showery light rain around, mainly towards exposed eastern coasts as the east/southeast winds pick up, and over the far southwest of Ireland and England. Elsewhere should see brighter skies develop as we go through the day, and where the sunshine breaks through it will feel warm as temperatures rise into the low twenties in some southern counties.
This sort of theme then continues through the weekend with high pressure to the north of Scotland meaning brisk east/southeast winds across the country keeping many places dry and quite warm in the sunshine, but rain may affect the far southwest from time to time.
